The Atiman Kinaiyahan, a tree-growing program initiated by Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, conducted its culminating activity last 19 May 2025 at the XU Little Theatre following a string of year-round activities which were anchored on “a living spirit we call Kinaiyahan” and founded on the principles of nurturing green minds and stewarding environmental responsibility within nature and society.
The activity began with an opening remark delivered by Mr Nestor M Banuag Jr, Social Involvement Advocacy Program Director, followed by Engr Lennie K Ong, Campus of the Future project Director, and Dr Juliet Q Dalagan, Vice President for Higher Education. The activity featured its milestones on seed collection, seedling donation, seed propagation, pukaw formation, wildlings rescue, nursery management, and tree planting. The program included awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to the participants following their contribution and participation at several planting sites across Cagayan de Oro City and Bukidnon including El Gaucho, Sumilao, and Lumbia.
The event ended with the Atiman Kinaiyahan committee handing out Narra seedling pods to the participants asking their support for XU’s effort to expand green spaces and promote sustainability.
