After battling against three other DevCom students in the semi-final round of the 1st ABS-CBN Cagayan de Oro Newscasting Competition on Feb 2 at the Ayala Centrio Mall, Hamilcar Chanjueco, Jr will represent the university in the finals on Feb 23.

Chanjueco, a junior Educational Communication major, bested seniors Niña Bea Cadorna, Dana Rae Pios, and Nathalie Soldevilla during the three-round competition which required them to do newscasting in English, Tagalog, and Bisaya. He will be competing against the five other selected finalists from COC-PHINMA, Liceo de Cagayan University, Lourdes College, Pilgrim Christian College, and Mindanao University of Science and Technology.
