The Dean of the Ateneo School of Government, Antonio La Viña, will be the speaker at the commencement exercises of the School of Medicine and the College of Law on April 24.

A native of Cagayan de Oro, La Viña finished his elementary and high school at XU, and is currently a member the University’s Board of Trustees. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the Ateneo de Manila University, his Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines, and his Masters and Doctorate in Law from Yale Law School.

La Viña has been teaching courses in philosophy, law and political science. He is a consultant on environmental and biodiversity issues for organizations such as the International Food Policy Research Institute, the United Nations Environment Programme and the Ford Foundation. He has also authored a number of books, papers and articles on law and governance in the areas of sustainable development, environment and biodiversity.

The commencement exercises will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
