Participants of the two-day activity on rekindling the passion for teaching

The Office of the Academic Vice President through the Faculty Development Committee organized a seminar-workshop on “How to Rekindle and Sustain a Teacher’s Passion for Teaching” on Aug 5-6 with Jose Mordeno, founder and President of SpeechPower, as resource person.

The seminar-workshop primarily aimed at “rekindling” and “igniting” teachers’ passion for teaching. It was participated in by faculty members from different colleges/schools in the University, the High School department and the Department of Education Region X.

At the outset, Mordeno assured the participants that the activity “will make you fall in love with teaching, again and again.” And true enough, the participants took with them so much inspiration and wisdom on how to become better teachers and also become the best persons that they can be.

As Mordeno emphasized, education goes beyond information for education is transformation. The most challenging task therefore of teachers is to positively “transform” students. Affecting and effecting transformation depends on the ability of teachers to communicate and motivate students.

More than the techniques taught by the resource person on effective communication, the greatest gain of the participants was the affirmation that all things in life will be well if accompanied with a positive outlook and a deep faith in the Divine Master, the Master Teacher who is Christ.
