Two staff members of the Governance and Leadership Institute attended the Coaches’ Training on LED4LGUs (Local Economic Development for Local Government Units) organized by the DILG Local Government Academy.
Pilar de Guia-Reyes and Mary Ann Chiong joined the training at La Breza Hotel, Quezon City on Sept 23-27. It aimed to develop and establish competencies of trainers/coaches to help LGUs develop entrepreneurial mindsets and promote LED strategic actions, attract businesses and investments, stimulate growth, and generate employment.
Participants were made to assess the economic and political development of their region; identify challenges and opportunities for strengthening the local economy, including job creation at the local, regional and national level; understand the critical role of LGUs in creating a competitive and business-friendly environment; and develop approaches for strategic local economic planning.
Furthermore, the participants will get the chance to get acquainted with practical tools for supporting the local economy and demonstrate the art of effective facilitation and coaching techniques, and, hopefully, deliver the LED4LGUs program to the LGUs effectively.
GLI Director Dr Dixon Q Yasay was one of the resource speakers on Entrepreneurial Leadership, having been a multi-awarded mayor who successfully brought his municipality to the forefront during his term of office.
