The World Council for Curriculum and Instruction – Philippine Student Teachers’ Network (WCCI-PSTN) has conferred the Super Initiative Leader Award for AY 2024–2025 to Mr Arvie Dave S Litang—a recognition of his outstanding leadership, transformative engagement, and steadfast advocacy in education. This national award honors student-teachers who exemplify innovation, compassion, and service in the field of teacher education.
The WCCI-PSTN is the national student arm of WCCI Philippines that empowers pre-service teachers to become advocates of inclusive, rights-based, and transformative education. It serves as a platform for student-leaders across the country to engage in educational advocacy, leadership formation, and collaborative initiatives aligned with global and local education goals. Through its programs, campaigns, and recognitions, WCCI-PSTN cultivates a new generation of educators committed to social justice, peace, and holistic curriculum development.
Arvie, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science, marched with pride and purpose as he received his Cum Laude distinction during the 86th Commencement Exercises of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan on 26 June 2025. A consistent Dean’s Lister and St Ignatius of Loyola Academic Excellence Scholar, Arvie’s formation goes beyond academic success. He is a passionate teacher-leader shaped by a deep desire to make a difference—grounded in Atenean values and committed to inclusive, transformative education.
Throughout his years at Xavier Ateneo, Arvie embodied the call to serve. As a volunteer learning facilitator in the XU Night School Alternative Learning System, he spent four years teaching science and life skills to out-of-school youth and adult learners. His leadership extended to coordinating learner development activities and mentoring peers—efforts recognized through the Outstanding Tutor of the Year and Outstanding Volunteer of the Year awards. His quiet dedication and consistent service reflect a leadership style rooted in compassion, humility, and purpose.
Beyond the classroom, Arvie made a lasting impact through student organizations. As President of the Ateneo Rover Circle, he revived the NSTP-CWTS Scouting Program, mobilizing students to lead service initiatives focused on responsible citizenship and community involvement. He also held key roles in the Teachers’ Guild, the XU Association of Science Educators, and served as a student representative to the Board of Presidents of the Assembly of Extra-Curricular Organizations. In every space, Arvie led with integrity and a mission-centered vision of servant-leadership.
On the national level, Arvie served as National Vice President for Mindanao of the WCCI-PSTN, where he championed learner-centered, rights-based education among pre-service teachers across the country. His contributions reflect not only leadership, but a calling to shape education that is just, inclusive, and transformative.
Arvie Dave S Litang leaves Xavier Ateneo not only as a scholar and student-leader, but as a deeply formed Atenean—animated by Magis, grounded in cura personalis, and ready to serve where he is most needed. His journey affirms that to teach is to lead, and to lead is to serve—a legacy of hope, purpose, and passion that lives on beyond the university walls.
