Xavier University–Ateneo de Cagayan marked a pivotal moment in its centennial journey with the conduct of the first step in its Strategic Planning Activity, held last 15 July 2025, at the AVR 1.
The day-long session convened top and middle management leaders—including members of the President’s Council, college/school deans, and basic education principals—to lay the groundwork for a future-ready, mission-aligned strategic direction for the university.
Largely facilitated by the Strategy and Quality Management Office, the activity aimed to assess the progress of the university’s current strategic plan, while taking a critical look at both internal capacities and external forces that may influence Xavier University’s trajectory in the years ahead.
Participants were engaged in conversations and assessments to:
- Review key milestones and areas for improvement in the current strategic plan implementation;
- Analyze stakeholder power, interest, and influence on the university’s direction;
- Identify and prioritize internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats; and
- Reflect on emerging trends in education and society that may shape the university’s future priorities.
The insights gathered from this initial step will serve as a foundation for the next phases of the strategic planning process which will happen within Academic Year 2025-2026, ensuring that the university remains responsive to the challenges and opportunities of the times while staying rooted in its mission and identity as a Jesuit, Catholic and Filipino university.
As Xavier University approaches its 100th year, this strategic planning activity affirms the university’s commitment to continuous institutional growth—guided by reflection, grounded in mission, and inspired by the future.
