Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, through its Strategy and Quality Management Office (SQMO), successfully held an ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organization Management System (EOMS) Awareness Training on Thursday, 11 September 2025. The training was conducted in hybrid mode, with participants attending both onsite at the Daigler Auditorium of the XU Macasandig Renewal and Training Center, and online via Zoom.

The training was facilitated by Engr Rolando “Rolly” C Remitar, a professional chemical engineer, teacher, and internationally accredited management system lead auditor certified in multiple ISO standards including ISO 21001. With extensive experience as an external lead auditor for various certification bodies, Engr. Remitar discussed the key principles and requirements of ISO 21001, and shared practical insights on applying ISO 21001, while highlighting its role in promoting quality, learner-centered education, and institutional accountability.

In his welcome message, the University President, Fr Mars P Tan, SJ, stressed the importance of aligning university processes with international standards to sustain excellence and continuous improvement in education. He further emphasized how quality assurance initiatives such as the implementation of ISO 21001 are aligned to the university’s value of magis, and encouraged participants to integrate the learnings into their respective units to strengthen the university’s mission of delivering holistic Jesuit education.

The activity also featured conversations and reflections on how ISO 21001 principles and standards can be applied in Xavier Ateneo’s operations, ensuring that quality processes remain responsive to the needs of students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.

The ISO 21001 Awareness Training marks another step forward in Xavier University’s commitment to integrating quality management principles into its educational processes, ensuring that the institution remains responsive to the needs of its stakeholders and the demands of a rapidly changing educational landscape.
