On 31 October 2025, Xavier University—through its Social Development Cluster and the Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SIAP)—conducted its second relief operation for families displaced by the recent fire in Barangay 17.
The activity provided food packs and clothing materials to around 250 affected families at the evacuation center located under the Marcos Bridge. The initiative was carried out in close coordination with the Barangay 17 Local Government Unit, led by Chairman Anthony Atterviry III, and supported by a strong team of volunteers from the XU community, including faculty members, formators, students, and non-teaching staff.

Their collective effort in preparing, organizing, and distributing the relief goods reflects the University’s enduring mission of forming men and women for and with others—responding with compassion and solidarity, especially in times of crisis.
This activity is part of the ongoing #XUTabangBrgy17 Relief Response, spearheaded by the Social Development Cluster through SIAP, which aims to provide sustained assistance and hope for the affected families as they rebuild their lives.

Through initiatives like this, Xavier Ateneo reaffirms its commitment to community engagement and service, standing in solidarity with those who are most in need and journeying with them toward recovery and renewal.
