To recognize her significant contributions to the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU), Dr Pamela Q Pajente, Xavier University Vice President for Basic Education, received the James J Meany SJ Service Award on 14 November 2025, at the Conrad Manila.

Dr Pajente received the award for her long-standing commitment to quality education, having completed more than 25 survey visits to private schools nationwide as a PAASCU accreditor.

Her work in instructional leadership, curriculum design and development, as well as educational research, has helped institutions strengthen academic programs and adapt to shifting educational demands.

The James J Meany SJ Service Award is one of PAASCU’s highest distinctions, given to accreditors who demonstrate exceptional dedication, integrity and service to the association’s mission. It recognizes individuals whose sustained contributions help uphold and advance quality standards in Philippine education.

PAASCU, the country’s leading private accrediting body, plays a crucial role in promoting excellence in basic and higher education. Through rigorous peer-review evaluations, the association ensures that schools meet established benchmarks in governance, instruction, research and student services.

In honoring Dr Pajente, PAASCU underscored the vital role of accreditors in guiding schools toward higher educational standards. Her service reflects the values of commitment and educational leadership championed by the late Fr James J Meany SJ, a pioneer of accreditation work in the Philippines.
