The American Corner Cagayan de Oro successfully concluded its MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) Camp on 1 December 2025, at the Lecture Space, celebrating a meaningful journey of learning, leadership, and collaboration. The program was led by SOE Assistant Professor and Fulbright FLTA alum Mr Anito Librando Jr, together with Dr Edralin Manla, Dean of the School of Education and an IVLP alum the USG program speaker. The participants—composed of English majors, faculty members, information specialists, staff, and student assistants —completed the lessons.
The initiative strengthened the partnership between the School of Education and American Corner CDO in providing innovative learning pathways for future educators and education professionals.
The MOOC through Coursera featured three focused sessions: “Small Talk & Conversational Vocabulary,” “Express Yourself: Pronunciation,” and “Organize Your Pitch.” These modules were designed to enhance participants’ English language proficiency while building confidence and leadership skills essential in academic and professional contexts.

Fatima Nariza Usman (sophomore SOE student) reflected on the value of the program, saying, “The MOOC has taught me practical interpersonal communication techniques that I can apply not only in my academic endeavors but also in professional settings. To sum up my learning experience in the MOOC, I use this MOOC acronym: M-for Mastering communication skills, O-for Openness for Opportunities for growth, and C-for Connecting ideas through digitalized learning.”
For Godwin Jed Baron (sophomore SOE student), the sessions broadened his horizons as an aspiring educator: “As an English major, the lessons I learned in the MOOC introduced me to a wide range of opportunities for success, including the development of mastery for communication and growth that emphasizes the needs for the specified curriculum.”
Dr Estrella Cabudoy, Coordinator of American Corner CDO and Mr Rule Redondo, Director of University Libraries presented the certificates and gave out celebratory swags to the participants at the last day of meet-up.
