College Connect 2025 blossomed into a heartfelt gathering of the Xavier Atenean family, transforming the XU Covered Courts into a space filled with warmth, nostalgia, and the unmistakable joy of coming home. With this year’s theme, “Nurturing Legacies with a Service-Driven Heart,” and in alignment with the XUFD’s call to “Mission Forward,” the Grand Alumni Homecoming became a beautiful testament to the deep and enduring bonds that have shaped generations of Xavier Ateneans.

From morning registration and college-based activities to bingo games and the alumni-sponsored Mass for the jubilarians presided by Fr Jose Alexander Badiola, SJ, AB Philo '87 alumnus, the day unfolded with the spirit of community at its core. Laughter echoed across the courts, friendly greetings turned into long conversations, and stories flowed easily—as though no time had passed at all. Alumni from near and far embraced the opportunity to reconnect, celebrate milestones, and honor the alma mater that continues to hold a special place in their hearts.

Organized by the XU Alumni Relations Office (ARO) in partnership with the Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association (XUAAA), the program placed heartfelt gratitude and unity at the center of the celebration. In his welcome remarks, XUAAA President Mr George S Goking warmly acknowledged the unwavering loyalty and generosity of the alumni community. Messages from University President Fr Mars P Tan, SJ, and Mr Francisco Guerra, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, further underscored the enduring Xavier mission—to form men and women for others, guided with a service-driven heart.

One of the evening’s most meaningful highlights was the launching of the XU Alumni Connect Hub and the MAGIS Iggy Bank, led by ARO Director Ms Irene Grace Guitarte. These new initiatives aim to

strengthen alumni engagement and foster a culture of giving rooted in gratitude and service—ensuring that the Atenean legacy continues to inspire future generations. The ceremonial turnover of scholarship funds and the XUHS Fund for Tabang Cebu further reflected the community’s shared commitment to uplift others and give back generously. XU-AAA had its special recognition to Batch 1970 represented by Mr Oscar Salcedo, Ms Irene Grace Alba Guitarte, XU-ARO Director and to Go-Goking Clan led by Mr Gonzalo Go Sr.

The celebration also honored the 25th and 50th Year Jubilarians, paying tribute to their journeys, contributions, and enduring loyalty. An intermission number by the XU Cultural Dance Troupe, lively raffle draws, and spirited community dancing brought vibrancy and joy to the evening’s festivities, proof that the Atenean spirit is as alive as ever.

Throughout the entire event, every smile, every shared memory, and every moment of embrace echoed an undeniable truth: XU is truly home. It is here that values were nurtured, dreams were born, friendships were strengthened, and a lifetime commitment to service was instilled.
