Guided by the spirit of Magis—the call to do more for Christ and for others—Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan continues to strengthen its mission of forming lifelong Ateneans through collaboration and shared purpose.

On 26 February 2026, key leaders from the Xavier University Alumni Relations Office (XU-ARO) headed by XU-ARO Director Ms Irene Grace Guitarte, officers of the Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association Inc (XUAAA Inc) led by Mr George S Goking, and Basic Education administrators, headed by Dr Pamela Q Pajente, convened for a strategic Consultation Meeting at the Office of the Vice President for Basic Education, Pueblo Campus. The gathering brought together the Vice President for Basic Education, the principals of Xavier University Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School, along with their respective Chapter Coordinators.

More than a coordination meeting, the consultation served as a meaningful dialogue on how the Xavier Atenean identity can be nurtured from a student’s earliest years and sustained long after graduation.

At the heart of the discussion was a shared vision: alumni engagement begins not at commencement, but throughout the entire Xavier Atenean formation journey. Participants explored current and upcoming alumni initiatives, clarified collaboration processes between Basic Education units and XUAAA Inc, and identified opportunities for stronger institutional alignment.

The conversation emphasized that alumni formation is an ongoing process, one that intentionally cultivates belonging, responsibility, and mission. By introducing students early to the values and opportunities of alumni engagement, Xavier Ateneo seeks to form individuals who recognize their lifelong connection to the University and its global community.

A meaningful highlight of the gathering was the ceremonial turnover of the MAGIS Iggy Bank, a symbolic initiative designed to promote generosity, stewardship, and shared responsibility within the Xavier Ateneo community.

More than a fundraising effort, the MAGIS Iggy Bank serves as a formative experience that encourages gratitude and a spirit of giving among students. Its adoption within Basic Education reflects a renewed commitment to embedding values of service and solidarity into everyday school life, shaping future alumni who are compassionate, engaged, and mission-driven.

The consultation concluded with a strong affirmation of partnership among XU-ARO, XUAAA Inc, and Basic Education leaders. Through strengthened communication and clearer collaborative pathways, the University continues to reinforce its commitment to holistic formation, developing graduates who remain active partners in the Atenean mission.

As Xavier Ateneo advances its legacy of forming men and women for others, initiatives like this consultation ensure that the Xavier Atenean spirit remains alive and enduring, rooted in faith, strengthened by community, and carried forward across generations.
