In a gathering that brought together stewards of academic records from across Mindanao, the Basic Education (BE) Registrars of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (GS – Ms Kale Alphe F Ramos, JHS – Mr Anito R Librando, Jr, and SHS – Kizzy Jane C Alonso) participated in the 48th ARSCU-TVTI XI, Inc. Annual Convention and the 23rd Mindanao-Wide Invitational Annual Convention held from 19 to 20 February 2026 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.
More than a professional conference, the two-day event became a space for reflection, dialogue, and shared responsibility. Carrying the theme “Navigating Legal Issues in the Registrar’s Office: Ensuring Integrity, Compliance, and Accountability in Records and Documentation,” the convention highlighted the evolving realities faced by registrars—guardians of institutional memory and credibility.
Sessions explored timely and pressing concerns: preventing fraud and falsification, ensuring proper authentication and certification of records for both local and international purposes, managing retention and lawful disposal of documents, and balancing confidentiality with transparency in an era shaped by data privacy regulations. Updates from the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) further grounded the discussions in current policy directions and compliance expectations.
For the BE Registrars, the experience was both affirming and forward- looking. It reinforced their role not only as record-keepers, but as key partners in upholding academic integrity and institutional trust. The exchange of best practices and shared challenges with colleagues from across Mindanao strengthened professional networks and renewed their commitment to service.
As educational institutions continue to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, the participation of Xavier Ateneo’s BE Registrars in this convention underscores a simple but powerful truth: behind every accurate transcript, authenticated document, and protected student record is a steadfast commitment to integrity and accountability.
