On 10 March 2026, Fr Stephan Lipke, SJ, Auxiliary Bishop of Novosibirsk, Russia, delivered a talk at Xavier University on Russia’s influence in global affairs.

Bishop Lipke shared insights on Russia’s geopolitical impact on international relations and global diplomacy. He also discussed Russia’s complex relationship with the West and the challenges it poses to global peace and security.
In addition, Bishop Lipke offered historical perspectives on the development of Western civilization, noting the influence of Christianity in shaping its cultural and political foundations. He also explored the evolution of the Russian Orthodox Church and highlighted its role in Russian religious and cultural life.
The talk encouraged meaningful discussions and questions among faculty and student participants from the Departments of History and International Studies, Sociology, Development Communication, Philosophy, Theology, and English Language and Literature.
