In celebration of Women’s Month, a gathering was held with the theme: “WE (Women and Everyone) for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society: Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” The event was organized by the XU-Gender and Development Office, XUCLA, and the XU-Central Student Government- Students’ Rights and Welfare Commission, and was attended by XU students, GAD officers from different government agencies, and members of the community.

The program started with a prayer and a song for peace led by Ms Dianne Saway Kinuyog of the Talaandig Tribe; then Atty Charmaine Eazl Ann Casino shared her talk on how current laws help protect women and promote gender equality, while also pointing out that there is still work to be done.

More than just a celebration, the event served as a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility to lead with courage, much like the Babaylans, and to actively shape a future where gender equality is not only upheld, but lived by all.
