Xavier University formally conducted a contract signing with Greenergy Development Corporation on 14 May 2026 for the retrofitting of the XU Junior High School Covered Court located at the XU Basic Education Pueblo Campus. The agreement was signed by Fr Mars P Tan, SJ on behalf of Xavier University, and Mr Andrew P Donggay representing Greenergy Development Corporation. The signing was witnessed by Mr Rolando J Linaac of the US Mindanao Renewable Energy Corporation (USMREC) and Engr George M Abasolo of Xavier University.

 

This initiative is part of the ongoing Solar Photovoltaic Facility Project between XU and USMREC. The project covers the development, installation, and operation of the solar energy systems across the Basic Education campuses. Under the same agreement, Greenergy serves as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor. It has since undertaken the necessary project works.

 

The agreement likewise provides additional funding from USMREC in the form of a donation to support the required retrofitting works. These improvements are necessary to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the covered court prior to the installation of the 200-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system intended for the XU Junior High School and Grade School.
 
Meanwhile, the installation of the 100-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system for the XU Senior High School is now 95 percent complete. The Solar Photovoltaic Facility Project officially commenced on 8 April 2026 and continues to progress.
