Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan has been officially recognized as an Active Participant for 2026 by the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, affirming the university’s continued commitment to ecological sustainability and integral ecology inspired by Laudato Si’. This recognition highlights XU’s ongoing efforts to integrate environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and faith-based formation into its institutional mission.

The recognition affirms Xavier University’s mission of forming men and women for and with others by integrating environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and community engagement into university life. Through this milestone, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan continues to strengthen its role in promoting sustainable development, environmental awareness, and care for creation within and beyond the campus community.

The Active Participant status also places Xavier University among institutions globally working toward a more just, sustainable, and ecologically responsible future.

Xavier University enrolled to become a Laudato Si` University in 2022, a seven-year journey towards institutional and personal transformations for integral ecology. In 2025, through the sustained grace by Pope Leo XIV, Xavier University crafted its Renewed Laudato Si' University Plan, which serves as a roadmap that integrates the seven Laudato Si' Goals into the university's directions, priorities and core functions.
