The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), a White House initiative for youth in the ASEAN region, has announced its first grants competition, open to youth in the ASEAN region aged 18-35.

Contacts aged 18-35 of all U.S. Mission sections in the ten Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries are invited to participate. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded, with winners announced in early September.

YSEALI aims to build and strengthen networks of bright young leaders from across the ASEAN region. To support these young leaders, YSEALI will launch the “Seeds for the Future” grants competition, and invites Embassies in the region to help spread the word about this opportunity. Grant proposals will be accepted until August 1st.

YSEALI will award small grants of up to $10,000 to the most promising and innovative public service ideas that address any of the four themes below:

    • economic development
    • environmental protection
    • education
    • civic engagement
