Xavier University - Governance and Leadership Institute, through its director, Dr Dixon Q Yasay represented Asia at the Global Consolidation Workshop on Strengthening Training Institutions spearheaded by the United Nations – Habitat for a Better Urban Future through its Capacity Development Unit (CDU). The three-day workshop was held at the Institute for Housing and Development Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands on June 10- 12.

The event was part of the 3- year program, “Building Capacity to Build Capacity” aimed at strengthening the capacities of training institutions to enhance the roles and contribution of local authorities and their partners in reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In addition, it targets to improve local governance and push for sustainable development.

Dr Yasay was among the previous participants of the Sub-Regional Workshops on Strengthening Local Government Training Institutes in Latin America, Anglophone and Francophone Africa, Arab States and in Asia.

XU-GLI recognizes the need to capacitate training institutions and its commitment to provide a better understanding on how to develop and address the challenges of its partners particularly in local government.
