Xavier University - Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) director Dr Dixon Yasay delivered a talk on Leadership in Local Politics during the “Local Governance and Development” workshop on August 27 in Singapore.
The event was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung under the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP) and participated in by different youth leaders from Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Vietnam, South Korea, Myanmar, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
In line with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s mission of promoting international dialogue and understanding, the workshop targets to train young political leaders in the region for future political leadership in their respective countries.
Experts from the region were invited to give presentations and lectures.
In his talk, Dr Yasay shared his personal experiences in running a political campaign and the challenges of local development. He also gave emphasis on the critical role of local leadership in achieving genuine development in the community.
The governance workshop also aims to prepare young politicians across Asia through providing them a platform for discourse and contact with new practical tools and perspectives regarding party management, communication, democratic institutions and other related topics.
