Recognizing the need of experts in leadership and governance, Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI), in partnership with Zuellig Family Foundation, conducted a training of trainers on August 5-8, 2014 at Harbor Lights Hotel, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City.

The training, following the Bridging Leadership Framework (BLF), consisted of introductions to Health Leadership and Governance Program (HLGP), Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP), review of Basic Training Concepts and demonstration of MLGP Module 1 roll-out.

The pool of MLGP trainers was composed Engr Gail de la Rita of Research and Social Outreach (RSO), Arniel Daluz (RSO), Nestor Banuag Jr of Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana – Social Involvement Office (KKP-SIO), Engr Ermin Stan B Pimentel of Year of Service (YOS) program, Estrella Borja of XU - College of Agriculture, Meiyoshi Masgon of the Sustainable Sanitation (SuSan) Center, Luther Labitad (XU - Sociology) and Robert dela Serna (XU-FARM).

Also included in the pool are visiting trainers such as Ariel Hernandez, Edmund del Castillo, Connie del Castillo, Fermin Jarales and Rhona Abadilla of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Dr Dixon Yasay, XU-GLI director, thanked the new MLGP trainers for their willingness to serve the localities through the program.

“This new set of trainers will strengthen XU’s efforts on Governance thematic area,” Dr Yasay said.
