Xavier University’s Psychology Department is set to host the 51st annual convention of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) at the Xavier Sports and Country Club on August 21-23.

The three-day event aims to draw together professionals from the field of psychology and to expand their repertoire of knowledge and best practices through a rundown of workshops, presentations, plenary and learning sessions, among others.

Underlining this year’s theme “Philippine Psychology in the Midst of Change,” the convention will discuss the present challenges and trends in teaching and research in psychology as well as their role in the development of the country.

PAP, established in 1962, is “an organization committed to the promotion of excellence in the teaching, research, and practice of psychology, and its recognition as a scientifically-oriented discipline for human and social development.”

The organization is currently composed of eight major divisions representing the key areas in the practice of psychology in the Philippines, namely, Assessment Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology and Teaching Psychology.

The registration to this convention ends on Aug 21.
