KKP team takes 2014 CSLP Exposition to all stakeholders of XU CSLP, faculty, students, partner organizations and community out for a spin in Xavier University Little Theatre last Saturday on July 26, 2014. The exhibition was for the CSLP group to present the general framework of SLP and its activities. As CSLP implements another school year of expertise– based project engagements for the first semester in the partner communities, the stakeholders leveled off first and foremost the basic principles and framework of the program.

Collaborative Service Learning program is a curriculum-based service learning experience for the students to learn and develop through active participation from various academic disciplines where service is conducted in the needs of a community.

The exposition leveled off the details of the SLP project engagements based on 5 thematic areas (food security, environment, good Governance, health and peace) of research and social outreach. Service-learning is a form of empirical education in which students engage in activities that address individual and community needs together with constructed opportunities for reflection designed to achieve desired learning outcomes not found in most classes.

The effects on students participating in Service Learning Projects will encounter a multitude of benefits wherein they will understand themselves better. It contributes to personal development, spiritual formation and change. Service learners will be receiving self-satisfaction from the act of assisting others in their community. Since the program promotes teamwork, participants will develop better communication, decision making and foster leadership abilities. In the end, this will vary based on the participation within the project.

In summary, Collaborative Service Learning Program is a venue for students in serving to learn and learning to serve by experience.
