Who may apply?
Junior/Senior students from the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Food Technology, Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Engineering with
- a QPI of at least 3.50 for both 3rd and 4th year including 5th for engineering courses
- no failing marks in any of his/her science and mathematics subjects from first year of enrollment
- leadership potential
- an approved research project which may be completed within SY 2014-2015
- no record of any disciplinary action, administrative charges and/or suspension for conduct unbecoming.
What are the requirements?
A. Documents due on or before Monday, 3 November 2014, Office of the University Registrar
- Fully accomplished Nomination Form from the Department Chair
- Fully accomplished questionnaire
- Handwritten 1000-word essay on what you think you can do toward the advancement of science and technology in our country and what the role of science and technology is in national development.
- Certificate of good moral character from the OSA office
- Certificate from the OSA office on the involvement of the student as a member or officer of curricular or extra-curricular student organizations in the University
- Citations/awards received
- One (1) copy of thesis/research proposal or progress report
- A general description of the paper and brief discussion relating to the components under the research project standards.

What will an awardee receive?
Cash prize to be received via a BPI Express Teller Account; Plaque of Recognition and the inscription of the awardee’s name in the roster of BPI-DOST Science Awardees permanently installed at the XU Main Library
