The University Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary conducted an outreach activity on Christmas Day, using the amount generated from the second collection during the 9-day Simbang Gabi held at Xavier University.
The activity dubbed as “Give More Love on Christmas Day,” was intended to help select local beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro City and those who were affected by Typhoon Ruby in December 2014.
From the total amount collected of Php40, 301.00, Php22, 866.35 was spent to buy toiletries which were given to the charity ward patients of Northern Mindanao Medical Center and Justiniano R Borja Hospital, the residents of Department of Health - Drug Rehabilitation Center in Upper Puerto and the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Home for Girls in Macanhan. A total of three hundred (300) packs were distributed with the help of the chaplaincy staff and volunteers during the Christmas Day.
The remaining Php17, 435.00 was deposited to the Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB) bank account created specifically to support the needs of those affected by Typhoon Ruby in the Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon.
