The Psychology department of Xavier University celebrated the success of the newly licensed psychologist and psychometricians in a forum held on December 4.

The participants recently took and passed the first licensure exam in the country for psychologists (for Master of Arts in Psychology graduates) and psychometricians (for BS Psychology graduates) on October 28-29, 2014 in Manila.

The activity serves as an avenue for sharing their general experiences in the board exam and for improving the current Psychology program of the department.

Nerissa R Buot, chairperson of the Psychology dept formally welcomed and congratulated the participants. She expressed her gratitude for the time and effort exerted by the new Psychology professionals in helping the department enhance its curriculum to ensure academic excellence.

XU garnered 100% passing rate in the licensure exam for psychologists (against the national passing rate of 66.04%) and 41.47% for the licensure exam for psychometricians (against the national passing rate of 39.31%).

Furthermore, the tribute was frontlined by College of Arts and Science dean Fr Rene Tacastacas SJ. He emphasized in his message the importance of psychologists and psychometricians in forming and nurturing other people. The profession deals with the heart and mind, ensuring that people live to their best potential.

The event also highlighted testimonies from the newly licensed psychometricians and their parents. A video presentation from XU Psychology Society, the department’s official co-curricular student organization, was also shown in the forum.

The event culminated with a fellowship dinner, where the faculty, staff, students and the parents celebrated the success of Psychology graduates and for bringing honor to XU.
