The School of Business and Management (SBM) of Xavier University presented the programs of the Student Entrepreneurship Center during a train-the-trainers workshop of the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSENT) on November 17-19 at the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).

ASCENT hosted the event following the Global Social Benefit Institute (GSBI) methodology to share institutional curriculum, frameworks, best practices and other resources for propelling social enterprise development and partnerships.

The delegation of XU was composed of Victoria M Babaran CPA, chairperson of the Accountancy Department; Joselito B Un Jr CPA MBA, chairperson of the Business Administration Department; and Lheida Mariz L Baraccao MBA, officer-in-charge of the Student Entrepreneurship Center, a college-based Research and Social Outreach (RSO) unit.

Baraccao presented  XU’s student entrepreneurship programs following the Hourglass Entrepreneurship Development Action Framework (HEDAF) which aims to supports the social enterprise development of undergraduate students.

The other presenters came from various Ateneo schools in the country.

The resource speakers of the workshop were from the Global Social Benefit Institute of Santa Clara University: Pamela Roussos, senior director; Tracy Weatherby, content lead; and Steve White, GSBI mentor network director.

Roussos discussed the social enterprise lifecycle and ecosystem while Weatherby delivered the overview of their Social Enterprise Curriculum.
                    
The training was capped with a session on designing a program which the participants drafted an outline of a program for their respective institutions based on the GBSI template. This event forms part of the trainers’ training series for social entrepreneurship development.
