The Psychology department of Xavier University organized a student research colloquium on November 26 at the audio-visual room of the XU Old Library.

The event was aimed at strengthening the students’ research direction and it served as an embodiment of the Psychology department’s thrust on Outcomes Based Education (OBE).

Psychology students from different year levels presented various studies and academic papers from diverse subjects in Psychology, such as in Experimental Psychology, Research in Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychological Assessment and Psychological Statistics. A total of 9 papers were presented during the colloquium.

Nerissa R Buot, chairperson of the Psychology department emphasized the importance of the activity. In her inspirational message, she highlighted the importance of sharing the results of the studies in order to use efficiently the research findings and recommendations.

The department hopes that more Psychology students will engage in research. Its long term objectives are for the students to prepare and present their studies in various regional assemblies and national conventions.

The Psychology community of XU continues to engage in research as part of its initiatives for academic excellence, which coincides with the agenda of the College of Arts and Sciences and the University’s Research and Social Outreach (RSO) cluster.
