As a member of the Regional Water and Sanitation Hub (RWSH) of the Department of Interior and Local Government - Region 10, Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) facilitated a seminar-workshop on Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) community organizing on January 21-23 at the Koresko Hotel, Pueblo, Cagayan de Oro City.

The activity was aimed at capacitating the Barangay Waterworks and Sanitation Associations (BAWASA) officers for an effective and sustainable management of the water system for the local government units (LGUs) of Catarman, Camiguin; and Baungon and Cabanglasan of Bukidnon.

The beneficiaries of the WatSan Program are identified through the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP).

With more than Php700M from the General Appropriations Act of 2015 for Region 10, the program targets to provide clean and potable water to the barangays in the identified municipalities.

XU-GLI strongly advocates for water as a basic human right as declared by the United Nations.
