In recognition of her achievements and exemplary contributions to library development in Mindanao, the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL) bestowed the 2014 Outstanding Academic and Research Librarian Award to Estrella C Cabudoy, director of Xavier University Libraries.

Cabudoy along with two other outstanding librarian awardees from Luzon and Visayas received a plaque and cash prize during the PAARL’s 42nd General Assembly, Induction and Awarding Ceremony on January 30 at the Technological Institute of the Philippines in Manila.

Cabudoy has expressed her immense joy for receiving the said recognition and for bringing honor to the libraries of XU.
“Our gratitude to Ms Cabudoy and to all the XU librarians and staff for your hard work in making the XU Libraries a valuable resource for learning,” said XU president Fr Roberto C Yap SJ.

The OARL Award was initiated in 2000 by then PAARL president Fe Angela M Verzosa.

As one of the largest nationwide organization of professional librarians, PAARL “continues to impact on its commitment to update our librarian’s knowledge and skills, and to advocate and promote the cause of Philippine librarianship.”

Since its inception in 1973, PAARL has led the development and growth of library and information services in the country with its principal mission: “to articulate the concerns of academic and research librarians and their institutions, and to influence information policy development affecting the future of academic and research libraries.”
