Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI), in partnership with Xavier Ecoville Project (XEP) team, conducted a leadership training seminar for Xavier Ecoville Homeowners Association (XEHA) on January 24-25 at the Manresa Tagbuan Center, Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.

The training, participated in by the XEHA board and block presidents, anchored on the Bridging Leadership Framework which focuses on three areas of leadership: ownership, co-ownership, and co-creation. Bridging Leadership highlights the understanding of different perspectives and multi-stakeholders dialogue as means to achieving community development.

The training aims to develop personal awareness through reflection of leadership journey, assessment of leadership capital and identification of personal vision and purpose. It includes analysis on community resettlement inequities, explanations on the multi-stakeholder process and practice dialogue skills.

The participants shared their experiences and innovative solutions, and at the end developed a 6-month development plan to address the identified community challenges.

The trainers were XU-GLI consultants: Luther Labitad, expert in Social Development; Nestor Banuag Jr, director of Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana – Social Involvement Office (KKP-SIO); Engr Ermin Stan B Pimentel, director of Year of Service (YOS); and Robert dela Serna, manager of XU-FARM.

XEHA board chairman Roy S Ampo expressed his gratitude to GLI and XEP for the continued support in the capability-building of the officers and said that the training is just timely and fitting for they, the XEHA officers, have just been newly elected.

The XEHA leadership training is designed as a Development Action Plan of Master in Development Leadership (MDL), the new master’s program of XU-Graduate School.
