The Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, the Interfaith Forum for Peace, Harmony and Solidarity (IFPHS) and Xavier University - Research and Social Outreach (through its Peace Program and Dialogue Committee) will conduct “Understanding the Bangsamoro Basic Law” forum on Tuesday, January 27 at the Patrick Cronin Hall of the San Agustin Cathedral.

The event targets to help the lumad, Muslim and Christian religious leaders, teachers and students of CDO to better understand and appreciate the content and issues surrounding the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.

A letter circulated by the organizers of the forum reads, “This law, if approved, will fundamentally alter the social fabric of Mindanao and will hopefully generate a peaceful future for us all.”

It continues, “We believe that educators and students have a significant role in understanding the proposed law and subsequently facilitating a more educated and informed discussion about it among colleagues and peers.”

The main resource person of the forum is lawyer Anna Basman, a member of the Government Peace Negotiating Panel for Talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
