The Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG) of the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) of the University of the Philippines conducted the Development Legislative Enhancement Course for local legislative officials on March 23-27 at UP - Diliman Campus in Quezon City.

Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) director Dr Dixon Q Yasay, who served as a lecturer on Local Economic Development (LED), focused his discussion on the critical role of local government units in facilitating inclusive local economic growth by providing the needed infrastructure and making the LGU investment friendly.

The five-day training, a regular public course offering, gave the best opportunity for participating mayors, vice mayors, city and municipal councilors and staff to fully equip themselves in ensuring quality local legislation.

Moreover, Yasay presented to the participants the recognized best practices of the LGU-LED in the country as models for replication in their constituencies.
