Xavier University - Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) held the 5th training on “Balanced Scorecard for Local Government – The Strategic Performance and Management System” on March 12-14 at the AVR1 of XU main campus.

The training is framed after the cycle of the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) which has instituted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in order to align employee performance to the goals of the local government. It started with the understanding on how the system creates value to the offices and to individual employees.

The training included the analysis of the root causes of the failure of SPMS implementation in the LGU, the identification of success indicators in the achieving the goals of the locality, and the practical coaching approaches to better implement the system.

Participants of this training came from Cabanglasan of Bukidnon Province, Buenavista and Las Nieves of Agusan del Norte, and Cateel of Davao Oriental Province.

Dr Lina Kwong, XU academic vice-president, welcomed the participants and stressed on the continued efforts of the university in serving the local government units as part of the university thematic agenda.

Under XU’s Research and Social Outreach (RSO) cluster, GLI continues to engage in the capability building of the local leaders and public servants.
