Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) conducted a capability enhancement training for the officials and employees of the local government of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur on March 2-7 at the Talacogon Farmers Training Center.

The training discussed two major topics: the roles of the barangay officials in realizing the goals of the municipality and the strategic competency building of the local employees.  The activity highlights the powers of the government and how these powers can result to human development.

The workshops began with the personal vision, mission, and values connecting it with the LGU’s vision, mission, and values.  The training included understanding on how the locality works as a system and solutions are produced systematically.

Talacogon Mayor Jesryl E Masendo, who recognized the importance of human resources development, was grateful to XU-GLI and he was hopeful of the training’s positive outcome for their LGU.

GLI continues to engage in local governance and management as part of XU’s greater societal engagement through its Research and Social Outreach (RSO) cluster.
