Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI), in partnership with the Department of Health - Region 10 (DOH-X), Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) and the local government unit of Opol, Misamis Oriental, conducted Barangay Leadership and Governance Training on February 26-27 at Bayfront Hotel, Cebu City.

Barangay chairpersons, councillors on health, and health workers participated in the training which was aimed at capacitating and empowering the health leaders in the community level to help them organize their Barangay Health Board (BHB).

It also served as a venue for discussion on the health situation in their barangays, demonstrate ownership and accountability for the health situation of their community, and describe their roles in addressing health inequities in their community.

XU-GLI continues to engage governance in the local community as part of the greater societal engagement goal under the XU - Research and Social Outreach (RSO) cluster.
