The Best Center Battle of Champions 2026 once again showcased the finest young basketball talents from across the country, bringing together elite school-based teams in a highly competitive and prestigious tournament. Held from June 4 to 7 June 2026, at the Asenso Covered Courts, Plaza Luz, Pagadian City, the event served as a platform for aspiring basketball players to demonstrate their skills, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while competing against some of the nation's strongest youth basketball programs.

Representing Xavier University Basic Education, the Basketball Crusaders proudly competed in the Small Basketeers Philippines (SBP) division under the guidance of Coach Jared Abad and Coach Long Uyan. The team was composed of Lecarius Karuie, Jan Matthew Lloren, Marcus Zeke Nabua, Simon Zachary Bantoc, Josef Pete Arrabaca, Garathea Guinita, Xavion Froi Jadman, Travis Jan Kaio Tala, Rich Emmanuel Landar, Sucarno Cabrezos III, Amelia Isabelle Marie Bongcayao, David Uzumaki Avenido, Vaughn Liam Paglinawan, Marco Octavio Tenorio and Iñigo Pajente. Entering the tournament as a wild card team, the Crusaders embraced the challenge with determination, resilience, and the true spirit of a Xavier Atenean athlete. Through their hard work, teamwork, and unwavering commitment, they defied expectations and proudly brought home the 2nd Runner-Up trophy and bronze medals in the prestigious Best Center Battle of Champions 2026.
The tournament officially opened with a grand Mayor's Night on 4 June 2026, highlighted by the colorful Parade of Delegates for both the Pasarelle and SBP categories, featuring eight participating schools in each division. The evening was filled with excitement and camaraderie as every team showcased their creativity through TikTok presentations and spirited team chants, entertaining fellow athletes, coaches, parents, and guests. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a free dinner was provided for all delegates and their families, making the event a memorable celebration of friendship and sportsmanship.

The SBP tournament featured eight outstanding schools divided into two brackets:
Bracket A
- Corpus Christi School of Cagayan de Oro
- Ferndale International School of Zamboanga
- Sacred Heart School–Ateneo de Cebu
- Dadiangas West CES–General Santos City
Bracket B
- Bacolod Tay Tung High School
- Berkeley School Inc. of Baguio
- Saint Columban College of Pagadian
- Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan

Throughout the elimination round, the Xavier University Basketball Crusaders displayed remarkable grit and teamwork, finishing as the Top 2 team in Bracket B, earning their place among the tournament's strongest contenders.
The Crusaders continued their impressive campaign throughout the tournament, overcoming challenges and competing with heart against more experienced teams. Their perseverance culminated in a strong performance during the championship round, where they secured the 2nd Runner-Up title, bringing home the bronze trophy and bronze medals for Xavier University.
This achievement is particularly meaningful as the Crusaders entered the tournament as a wild card team. Through their unwavering commitment, discipline, teamwork, and fighting spirit, they proved that determination and belief can overcome any obstacle. Their success reflects the values of excellence, courage, and perseverance that define the Xavier Atenean community. The team's accomplishment serves as an inspiration to fellow student-athletes and a testament to the strength of Xavier University Basic Education's basketball program.

The Xavier University Basic Education Basketball Crusaders extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Best Center organizers for providing a well-organized and meaningful tournament experience. Special thanks are also extended to the City Government Officials of Pagadian for its warm hospitality and support in hosting the event.
The team likewise acknowledges the unwavering support of Xavier University, the school community, Coach Jared Abad, Coach Long Uyan, and most especially the parents and families whose encouragement, sacrifices, and steadfast support inspired every athlete to give their very best throughout the competition.
As the Crusaders return home with pride, they carry not only medals and a trophy but also invaluable lessons, memories, and experiences that will continue to shape them both as athletes and as young Xavier Ateneans.
