The campus ministers of Xavier University embarked on a genogram seminar at the Betania Retreat House on May 25-26.

Facilitated by Perpetua Benedicto, a freelance counselor of the Center for Family Ministries (CEFAM) at Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), the genogram seminar was aimed at examining the family dynamics of the campus ministers and how family relations affect one’s personality and behavior.

The event involved creating a three-generational family tree starting with the grandparents.

The facilitator provided reflection questions which guided the campus ministers as they present their respective family tree chart. With the aid of Benedicto, a processing session immediately followed each presentation.

With the knowledge of each other’s family background after the genogram seminar, the Campus Ministries Office (CMO) is hopeful that this will lead to “a better understanding and appreciation of one another’s uniqueness, promote trust, and strengthen their bond as they take on an integral part in the holistic formation of the university and its constituents.”
