Xavier University - Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) conducted a half-day reinvigoration exercise to over 100 employees of Misamis Oriental Rural Electric Service Cooperative - 1 (MORESCO-1) earlier this month.

The exercise, held at the training center of the said cooperative, was aimed at rekindling the spirit of the employees and at strengthening their commitment to MORESCO-1’s vision of becoming "a world-class energy provider of choice in the Philippines."

XU-GLI director Dr Dixon Yasay provided the participants with learning exercises and lively interactive discussions simulating an efficient and effective delivery of services.

MORESCO-1 is a consistent champion and well-governed, performing electric cooperative recognized by the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

General Julie Real gave an inspiring message on the history and performance of MORESCO-1 since 1968. He shared the different challenges the company has encountered during its infancy stage up to today.

In addition, Real also acknowledged the major contribution of the late Philippine Vice President Emmanuel Pelaez to the attainment of providing low-cost electricity in every household in Misamis Oriental.

XU-GLI and MORESCO-1 are currently discussing the possibility of a long-term engagement on competency building towards the electric service cooperative’s management and organizational development.
