Officials from Maramag, Bukidnon attended in the training-workshop on barangay governance and technical writing of Xavier University – Governance and Leadership Institute (XU-GLI) on June 26-27 at XU-AVR 1.

Different speakers and topics composed the sessions at the said event — XU-GLI Director Dr. Dixon Yasay on barangay leadership and best practices of recognized barangays; Maria Teresa Arreza, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) secretary of Bayugan City, on preparing and writing of minutes and committee report; Edward Yasay, SB secretary of Opol, Misamis Oriental, on writing resolution papers; Cedric Dayta, SB secretary of Lugait, Misamis Oriental, on making ordinance; and XU-GLI consultant Robert de la Serna on effective barangay legislation through social media.

“We learned a lot not only about governance and technical writing but also about strategies to better serve the locality,” said Arsenio Pamiliar, one of the participants.

GLI pushes for the empowerment of public servants and organizations in collaboration with other units under XU’s Research and Social Outreach (RSO) cluster and partner institutions.
