The Climate Change Commission, through its Resilience and Preparedness for Inclusive Development (RAPID) program, partnered with the Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University for module development on governance in Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM).

Focusing on the 12 local government units (LGUs) ravaged by Supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013, this project is being supported by the Australian Aid (AusAid).

Local officials attended in the project orientation session in Tacloban City where CCC through its Climate Change Office (CCO) has identified pilot barangays for crafting the community-based DRRM plan of the two cities and ten municipalities in Central Visayas.

GLI aims to train local leaders in achieving quality DRRM strategies through effective governance and resource management to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities of the communities in times of disasters.
