The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Xavier University and the Ateneo Rover Circle (ARC) conducted the “Xavier Camp” on Feb 6 and 7 at the XU soccer field.

The Xavier Camp was an activity-based leadership enhancement training workshop for select Grades 9 and 10 student leaders from different high schools across Cagayan de Oro City. The camp also aimed to deepen their character and values of service for others.

The activity was participated in by students from Bulua National High School, Cagayan de Oro NHS, Macasandig NHS and Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive HS, along with their respective moderators.

“I’ve learned lots of things and realizations during the Xavier Camp 2016. It has deepened my understanding of what a leader is … and it isn’t that easy,” said Janine Kate Cañete, a Grade 10 student from Bulua NHS.

“The most important thing about being leader is ‘Do not give up.’ Every little thing means a lot and we must start to change ourselves towards becoming a responsible leader,” she added.

The activity was an initiative of XU-NSTP and ARC in upholding the vision-mission of the university to form leaders of character.
