The Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University, in partnership with the Department of Health Regional Office 10 (DOH-X), conducted a training of trainers (TOT) on facilitating learning from July 13 to 15.

The event was aimed at training DOH’s development management officers to familiarize various facilitation tools and for them to re-echo the same information to the deployed nurses under their jurisdiction.

The training focused on understanding the basic principles of facilitation, highlighting prior knowledge of the adult learner, and making use of tools, teaching and learning methods to generate initiatives and relevant programs.

“I have been a teacher and trainer for a long time but the workshop has given me new insights on how to effectively facilitate learning,” said Millorina Osorio, head of DOH-X’s human resources and development unit.

GLI director Dr Dixon Yasay served as main facilitator of the workshop. ∎
