In celebration of the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Music Week, Xavier University Senior High School students under the STEM and HUMSS strands* respectively staged a variety show dubbed “Music Appreciation Day” as their performance task on August 1 and 2.
Each section showcased astounding themes for their performance task with their own selection of songs consisting of three OPM tracks, three classic pieces, and four top hit tunes.
From romantic settings to retro-themed shows, from hipster music festivals to TV adaptations, each section transformed their classroom into stunning performance stages to feature song and dance numbers, showcasing their talents while applying their lessons on audio media literacy.
"What could have been a lecture-and-quiz lesson was transformed into an authentic significant human experience where the students could really perform and show what their thoughts are as students, as youth, and as Filipino citizens,” shared XU Development Communication department chairperson Evans Yonson.
The MIL Music Week was aimed at characterizing the concepts and application of Audio Information and Media.
"The MIL Music Week was a great innovation, a takeoff from the usual. I congratulate the MIL faculty team for coming up with the MIL Music Week idea for the senior high students,” commended Yonson.
MIL is one of the core courses offered for Grade 11 students under the K-12 Basic Education System. ∎
