The Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University recently facilitated the Executive and Legislative Agenda Formulation Workshop for the local government unit of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur.

The said workshop covered sessions on vision setting and the analysis of local challenges in areas of economy, institutional system, infrastructure, social and environmental programs, including defining the goals and initiatives for each sector.

Public servants from both executive and legislative branches envision the LGU Sibagat as — "A municipality with sustainable socio-economic development by 2019" — the last year of their leaders’ office term.

For the local leaders, this new vision can be achieved through increased household income, safe and secured environment, accessible barangay roads, available potable water, quality basic social services, achieved basic education, and high rate of public satisfaction.

Neophyte Mayor Liza Evangelista of LGU Sibagat expressed her gratitude to XU-GLI for facilitating the ELA workshop.

“The processes and outputs of the ELA workshop went beyond our expectations,” she said. “These will surely guide us in making our services better.”

Held from August 16 to 18 in Amontay, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, facilitating this ELA formulation workshop formed part of XU-GLI’s mission of building the capacities of public servants in Mindanao. ∎
