A Xavier graduate landed on the ninth spot in the August 2016 Psychometrician Licensure Examination.

Xavier’s Zayra Blanche M Correos, a graduate of BS Psychology, reaped 83. 80% in the said exam.

“I am very pleased to inform the community that for the August 2016 Psychometrician Licensure Examination, XU had an examinee who garnered one of the ten highest places, Zayra Blanche Correos,” greeted XU president Fr Roberto C Yap SJ in his message to the academic community.

Along with Correos, 63 other XU graduates passed the PLE, giving the university a passing rate of 55.65% (64 out of 115 takers).

“My parents have always been my inspiration in a lot of things. And, everything I do and every achievement that I accomplish is always for them. I want nothing more in life than to make them happy and proud,” Correos told Sun*Star Cagayan de Oro.

“On the other hand, I do believe that our training in Xavier was very helpful. I owe a lot of what I know about psychology to my professors at XU. They have always been there to guide us and support us and without them, I would not have achieved anything like this,” she added.

The national passing rate is 50.46% after 3,690 out of 7,312 passed the test, based on the report of the Professional Regulation Commission, released on Monday, September 5.

Moreover, Xavier graduates Apsary R Diamla and Ma Rica G Juntilo successfully took the August 2016 Psychologist Licensure Examination. Only 63 out of 120 takers nationwide passed the latter, resulting to a national passing rate of 52.5%.

“We thank College of Arts and Sciences dean Dr Juliet Q Dalagan, Graduate School dean Dr Isaias S Sealza, Psychology Department chairman Jason O Manaois, the psychology faculty and staff for the guidance and support they have given to our students,” said Yap.

“Congratulations to Zayra and to all our new XU psychometricians and psychologists!”

The two said examinations were given by the Board of Psychology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, and Lucena. ∎
