Administrators of local government units (LGU) of different Mindanao towns drew together at a governance workshop organized by the Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University from September 8 to 9.

The participating local administrators came from Impasug-ong, Kitaotao, Maramag, and Pangantukan from the province of Bukidnon; Balingasag, Balingoan, Opol, and Talisayan from Misamis Oriental; Panabo City, Kapalong, and Santo Tomas from Davao del Norte; Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte; Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte; Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte; and Malalag, Davao del Sur.

The workshop covered topics on local governance such as public value creation, local planning and budgeting, local legislation, performance management, and conflict resolution.

“This training workshop aims to help LGU administrators appreciate the complexity of their work and allowing them to run the local bureaucracy using the lens of local governance,” said GLI director Dr Dixon Q Yasay.

Besides Yasay, human resources consultant Churchill Aguilar and Engr Gail de la Rita from XU Social Development cluster also served as resource speakers for the said training. ∎
