Xavier University commended its 30 mechanical engineering graduates who passed the September 2016 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination (MELE).

XU garnered a passing rate of 81.08% after 30 out of 37 takers successfully passed the said board exam.

“Congratulations to our new XU mechanical engineers!” greeted XU president Fr Roberto C Yap SJ in his message to the academic community.

“We thank College of Engineering dean Dr Hercules Cascon, Mechanical Engineering Department chairperson Dr Elmer Dollera, the engineering faculty and staff for the guidance and support they have given to our students,” he added.

The Professional Regulation Commission reported on Friday, October 7 that 3,110 out of 4,470 (national passing rate of 69.57%) passed the MELE conducted by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao. 

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering curriculum at Xavier includes lectures and laboratory instructions on designing equipment and machines for setting up, commissioning, and operations of industrial plants. The areas of specification are machine design, power plant heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), industrial machinery, and instrumentation and control.∎
