"The Xavier Stage does not solely focus on your capability of acting or on being on the stage because we also give importance on what lies beyond the stage,” artistic director Hobart Savior told the members of the theater company.

The Xavier Stage, or TXS for short, recently recruited new members for the company to make up the Batch 8. To welcome the new TXS members, an outdoor leadership training was held in an effort to build camaraderie and to expose them to team-building activities. The event was held on November 13 in various areas of the university campus.

The event aimed to implement practical steps for self-improvement, building confidence, understanding how leadership styles affect team members, learning how to adjust those styles to gain commitment, and sharpening interpersonal communication skills.

One highlight of the day was the TXS Amazing Race where everyone actively participated. Members were grouped into three — white, blue, and orange teams. Each group strived to win in various games. But at the end, the race has made the TXS members realize the essence of solving each obstacle course in relation to the roles they play in the theater company.

As a theater organization, The Xavier Stage relies on their collective leadership skills to produce quality plays and organize social events. The leadership training has emphasized that as it honed its members to become critical thinkers and dedicated young cultural workers, it has also transformed its members into “leaders of will, commitment, and integrity.”

The Xavier Stage has been a resident repertory theater company in the university involving students, faculty and staff, alumni and the community over the years. Through this leadership training, among other activities, it has formed its members as the frontliners in fulfilling the company’s vision and mission. ∎
